MORE    MUSIC! Many of you have asked for more ORIGINAL MUSIC, as well as some of our earlier stuff, recorded when we were living in Key West. Previously, we have not had any available in CD form, except for the "Burning Flame" CD. We are in the process of converting our first 2 original recordings to CD, one of which will have a cover design by the very creative Mike Pettit! We hope to have them available by the end of February.

Check out:
www.keysweb.info, an info guide for the Florida Keys, which is extremely handy, especially for those of you who are not here year round and may not be quite as familiar with all there is to know about where things are. It is also helpful to those who have small businesses, if you are not already listed with them, as the listing is free! You can contact Don Patterson, who also happens to be the person that is designing our web site of  which we are so very proud.

Dave's Guitar Korner
Guitar Room

You too can learn every chord there is to know with this very comprehensive online chord book. After a few short weeks you can be playing on Duval St. in Key West. Just kidding folks, but it is actually a very great site for anyone who does play the guitar.

Thanks To:

In this first newsletter, we would like to give credit and thanks where it is due, to our good friend Doc Ferland, who has been our computer guru from day one and taught us everything we know about these music programs, which have much potential for frustration. Through his help and many countless hours on the phone, we have managed to broaden the variety of our music which has grown into what it is today. So, THANKS DOC! And we wish you and Sally all the best up there in Southport (for those of you who don't know, it's just outside Panama City.)

Doc Ferland

We would also like to credit our good friend Scotty of Scott Design & Advertising, for the many hours he has spent in creating much of our graphics which include, most of our CD covers and more recently our "byouville" header on the web site. You can contact him off our links page if you are in need of expert work in graphic design. Also, Scotty's wife Lissa is launching her own gourmet dog biscuits, called "For Pet's Sake." Gotta say, if those biscuits are as good as the fantastic meals that she has prepared for us, there will be a lot of happy dogs out there.

Pat, Jerry & Asia

Last, but not least; How do we begin to thank you Pat & Jerry Gibbs, our dear friends in Rotonda? Without you guys we wouldn't be building our new home and we probably wouldn't even have this web site, because after all, it was you two that talked us in to it in the first place! You have our deepest love and respect.

Welcome!
We are really excited about our new site. With the upcoming move to Florida's gulf coast, we were really worried about losing track of all our friends and fans we were so fortunate to make over our years here in the Keys. Now, we can let you know where we are and what's happening in "Byouville." If you haven't already added your name to our newsletter list, click here. We can send you a brief email heads-up when our quarterly newsletter comes out.

As we have told many of you in person, when we depart from the keys, late July or August and settle into our new house in Rotonda, we have every intention of returning to the keys at least once a month to perform at different venues. So, please continue to check back with our schedule page to see when and where you can find us.

Our Name?
Many people have asked over the years, where did the name "Blue Byou" come from?

Well, back in Key West on June 28, 1992, we had our first gig scheduled and at that point, we had no name. We thought of calling ourselves D & D, and asked many of our friends, what they thought of it and all in all got a less than wonderful response. And besides that, it dawned on us that there is a trash removal service in New York, called D & D's. Playing trashy music is the closest we've ever come to trash removal, so we trashed that idea, no pun intended.

The song "Blue Bayou" by Roy Orbison, has always represented a place in paradise, where  carefree living and warm sunny weather is the norm. Good-bye snow, we're ready to go. We decided "Blue Bayou" was the name for us! We went down to the local printer to have a cheap banner made (and I do mean cheap) and after putting our order in, we returned 3 days later, hours before our first gig, only to find that the sign read "Blue BYOU", oops, where's the "A"? Did we mention it was a cheap sign?

Anyway, the rest is "Blue Byou" history. Kinda' catchy, don't you think?
